Public companies reporting bankruptcy or receivership
Form 8-K filings under Item 1.03, from SEC EDGAR. A public company must file one within four business days of the event.
Source: federal court records via CourtListener and the RECAP Archive, a project of the nonprofit Free Law Project. Checked once a day. Individuals who file Chapter 11 are left out using a name-based rule, so a business with a personal-sounding name can be missing, and the real-estate filter is a guess from the debtor's name, not a classification of its business. Chapter 7 filings, state-court receiverships, and assignments for the benefit of creditors are not covered. Not legal advice.
